Sunday AM practice report

Day 4 of training camp workouts started in a driving rain (third straight day there was rain at Redskin Park) but things quickly cleared up and the Redskins went through their second full-pads workout.

The heat of Saturday was gone and this morning’s cloud cover provided some much-needed shade for everybody.

Some notes from the AM practice (The Redskins are back on the field for a 3 p.m. practice that is shorts and shells).

*CB Carlos Rogers (calf) sat out the team work for a second straight day. DL J.D. Skolnitsky tweaked a hamstring, returned to drills but then watched the team portion. WR Roydell Williams injured his finger while dropping a pass and was headed for an X-Ray. FB Eddie Williams (hamstring) continues to sit out.

*Albert Haynesworth continues to impress. On a 11 vs. 11 run drill, he showed his incredibly quick first step by knifing through C Casey Rabach and RG Randy Thomas. Haynesworth didn’t make the tackle but that’s how he’ll get into the backfield.

*The Redskins practiced the hurry-up for the first time this camp. “Some things good, some things very poor but the things that were poor were some of the new concepts that we didn’t necessarily run 15 times out here before we put it into the game,” coach Jim Zorn said.

*The defense made three interceptions — S Chris Horton on a pass deflected by LB London Fletcher (thrown by Jason Campbell), S Michael Grant intercepted Todd Collins and CB Byron Westbrook picked off Campbell.

*Zorn continues to hand out praise for the defensive line. “We’re going to get the ball back a little bit more, I can tell you that right now,” he said.
