So we’re about two and a half hours away from kickoff at FedEx field and most of the tarp is still on the field (one end zone is explsed up to the 15 yard line), and the rain is still coming down.
Actually, a mid post update — a team of 18 Redskins employees are removing the tarp. By the time I’m done typing here the whole field should be uncovered.
So, what do we know?
- Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is not expected to play, according to the Post-Gazette, even though he made the trip to Landover, Md.
- That means the Steelers are expected to start veteran Charlie Batch at QB, and we’ll likely get a heavy dose of Dennis Dixon, the former Oregon star the team drafted in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. Dixon got a majority of the snaps in the Steelers’ preseason opener, going 10-for-19 for 112 yards.
OK the tarp is almost gone, and the first few players in T-shirts and football pants have taken the field to stretch and move around a bit. No fans in site in the rainy stadium … yet.
