The Redskins confirmed  moments ago that tight ends coach Rennie Simmons has retired from the staff and defensive quality control coach Arthur Smith has left to pursue other interests.

Simmons’ contract expired after this season and he cleaned out his office this week. Under his watch, Chris Cooley made two Pro Bowl appearances.

Simmons’ replacement wasn’t named but if the Redskins stay in house, quality control coach Bill Khayat would be the likely choice.
