The Redskins have re-signed linebacker Alfred Fincher, who will return for his second year with the team.
Fincher is a solid special teams player and he provides good insurance at weak-side linebacker if Rocky McIntosh and his iffy knees become an issue this year.
Fincher played in 15 games last year, primarily on special teams. He made nine tackles on the coverage teams.
Fincher, who will be 26 when the regular season begins, saw major playing time on defense in only one game — Week 15 at Cincinnati when he replaced McIntosh in the first half and fared well playing mostly on first and second downs.
The Redskins are now set at weak-side backer with McIntosh and back-up Fincher but remain without a starter at the strong-side spot. The in-house candidate is H.B. Blades.
