Evans 29, started a career-high 11 games for the Redskins in 2008, his fifth season in Washington. His departure following the release of fellow end Jason Taylor on Monday raises the likelihood that the Redskins will re-sign Phillip Daniels, whose contract they voided last week.

Daniels, who turned 36 today, was a 4-year starter until tearing two knee ligaments on the opening snap of training camp last July. Evans and Taylor assumed Daniels’ duties during his absence.
