Here at Redskin Park, the team opened its lone full-squad minicamp of the offseason with the first of two practices that ended in the rain.

According to an assistant coach, 116 players were on the field, including 28 who are not under contract but are trying out.

A couple of notes:

*LB Rocky McIntosh was not on the field and coach Jim Zorn wasn’t aware of it. He didn’t know where McIntosh was, but a team spokesperson said he was gone for personal reasons. UPDATE: Zorn later clarified, saying he had forgotten that McIntosh was at a funeral and would be back tomorrow.

*WR Santana Moss (shin splints) and WR James Thrash (neck) were on the field but didn’t work. Zorn said Moss sustained his injury because he has been jogging on concrete while working with a kick boxer.

*Rookie first round pick Brian Orakpo worked with the linebackers and not defensive linemen.

*Two of the receivers trying out were veterans Kelley Washington and D.J. Hackett.

*DE Phillip Daniels worked with the starting d-line of Cornelius Griffin, Albert Haynesworth and Andre Carter.

*The starting offensive line had Devin Clark (filling in for the injured Chris Samuels) and Stephon Heyer at the tackles.

*Tryout receiver Keith Eloi of Nebraska-Omaha had the best catches of the morning, beating practice squad cornerback Byron Westbrook and third-rounder Kevin Barnes on deep balls.
