The Redskins have made a roster move before their 11:30 a.m. practice, placing safety Chris Horton on injured reserve and re-signing running back Quinton Ganther.
Horton sustained a toe injury Sunday at Atlanta and was expected to miss 4-6 weeks or, if he needs surgery, 4-6 months.
Ganther signed a few weeks ago but did not appear in a game before he was cut last week.
The Redskins now have three safeties on the active roster: LaRon Landry, Reed Doughty and Kareem Moore. Expect Fred Smoot to get more work in three-safety packages and Moore will also see a bump in playing time.
The injury ends an up and down year for Horton. He started the season but lost his position to Doughty. Still, Horton played 58 snaps against Carolina, 49 against Philadelphia and started the Atlanta game.
