The Redskins officially played RB Ladell Betts, RG Chad Rinehart and FB Eddie Williams on the season-ending injured reserve list.
To fill two of the roster spots, the team signed RB Marcus Mason and OG Paul Fanaika.
Fanaika was on the Philadelphia practice squad. Enter the gamesmanship — the Redskins play the Eagles this week.
Mason was on the roster for the opening six games and carried six times for 19 yards. He was cut on Oct. 20. He remained without a team since although he worked out for New England.
When released by the Redskins, Mason cited in a radio interview that the team didn’t think he knew the plays well enough and that certainly showed in pass protection, where Mason made an error or two that resulted in Jason Campbell being pressured.
Fanaika was a seventh round pick in 2009 from Arizona State.
The Redskins still have one roster spot open.
