Will Montgomery will start at right guard on Sunday vs. Kansas City.

Montgomery, who attended Centreville High and Virginia Tech, follows longtime starter Randy Thomas (Weeks 1-2), Chad Rinehart (Weeks 3-4) and Mike Williams (Week 5) in becoming the fourth player to man that position in five weeks.

“Will Montgomery’s going to be our right guard,” said coach Jim Zorn. “Partly [because] Chad Rinehart’s shoulder is still hurting him. We have to have somebody that can practice.”

Rinehart’s ailing shoulder hadn’t been public knowledge until last week when the Redskins chose Williams over him.

“I’ve started in the past,” said Montgomery, who started four games as a rookie for Carolina in 2006 and two for the New York Jets in 2007. “I’m just going to go out there and play football like I have my whole career.”
