The long-rumored transfer of Vee Sanford from Georgetown’s basketball team was confirmed by the school Monday. No destination was announced.

A 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard, the sophomore averaged 6.6 minutes and 2.4 points in 27 games last season.

Sanford’s departure clears up Georgetown’s scholarship logjam. The Hoyas were on track to be one over the limit of 13 scholarships for the 2011-12 season after Otto Porter’s commitment earlier this month.
