Want to watch Virginia Commonwealth University’s Final Four banner being raised at the Verizon Wireless Center in Richmond? The date is Nov. 10 against Saint Francis (Pa.), opening the the regular season schedule.

After last season’s unexpected run to the Final Four, VCU released its 2011-12 nonconference schedule today.


Included is a trip to Washington to face George Washington in the BB&T Classic at the Verizon Center on Dec. 4. Other highlights are a Nov. 27 meeting with Alabama and former VCU coach Anthony Grant, a Nov. 30 matchup with South Florida of the Big East and the Dec. 10 showdown with rival Richmond.

Beating Richmond, incidentally, nets VCU coach Shaka Smart a $2,000 bonus, according to the contract he signed June 27.
