Everyone knows that the area around Nationals Park is still devoid of decent restaurants and bars.

But starting at 5 p.m. tonight, there will finally be a place to hang out, grab a beer or two and a bite to eat.

Georgetown Events and local developer Akridge have teamed up to create The Bullpen, an festival park at Half and N Streets SE that will feature food vendors including Rocklands, Colonial Kettle Corn and Surfside, a beer garden sponsored by Bud Light and interactive games for kids sponsored by Under Armour and Head First Camps.

The Bullpen will open two hours before gametime and typically remain open until midnight.

It will also have live music on a 400 square-foot stage. Concerts, which cost $5, begin next weekend with the Nationals-Orioles series. Check out the schedule of concerts.

The Bullpen will also be available to rent out for special events on non-gamedays. So book your political action committee fundraisers now.
