The Caps-Penguins series has been very good to Versus, as the cable network reports that Game 2 (the double hat trick game) was its highest-rated conference semifinal ever. It was also the most-watched second round game on cable since 2002.
Versus was the number one network during the time period in Washington, where it scored a 5.3 local household rating.Nationally, it scored a 1.2 rating, averaging more than 1.2 million total viewers.
National ratings for Game 3 won’t be available until tomorrow morning, but Versus reports that it scored a 6.7 local household rating in Washington.
Basically, the rating represents the average percentage of households with TVs tuned into the game at any given time. In Washington, it represents about 157,000 households tuning in.
The 6.7 figure is solid for Washington, but Pittsburgh has consistently drawn a number twice that size.
All of the remaining games of the Caps-Penguins series will air on Comcast SportsNet.
