In a brazen attempt to steal passwords, login information and find a base for future identity-stealing attacks, phishers attacked Facebook today, sending fake messages to members saying they should “login to fbaction.net,” a Web site which, reportedly sought to get those Facebook users to re-enter their usernames and passwords.

Early this afternoon, the site was inaccessible from one Silver Spring office; by this evening both Safari and Firefox Web browsers had warnings up saying the site had been flagged as fraudulent.

The moral: always, always be careful when directed to sites by others. Period.
