As mentioned in Monday’s On Computers column, I’m having some issues with Linux. To be clear: My two problems were, one, that I couldn’t get SimplyMEPIS to recognize and connect to my wireless network and, two, to get it to install cleanly on a Dell Vostro 1310 notebook computer. A reader wrote in, suggesting Ubuntu as the solution. I’ve dowloaded the latest “distro,” which is Linux-speak for a “distribution,” or release, of the software. I’ll let you know what happens.
