The big hunt

Gov. Sarah Palin may shoot moose. But Senators Barack Obama and John McCain have hunters in their telescopic sites. Each presidential hopeful has given an exclusive interview to none other than “Field and Stream” magazine, hoping to court the 38 million Americans identifying themselves as outdoors fanatics.

The candidates speak on conservation, Second Amendment rights, and their interest (yes, uh-huh, really) in hunting, fishing and other Palinesque activities.

“McCain and Obama gave long, thoughtful interviews because they know sportsmen have a powerful voice,” remarked editor Anthony Licata.

The complete interviews are available online at Field and Stream — and include a photo gallery of Mrs. Palin’s hunting photos. The magazine itself appears at newsstands on September 23.
