Amid reports that New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was being bumped from the Republican National Convention speaking list, John McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis assured reporters this morning he will be heard.
“You can anticipate seeing your mayor address the convention, and probably Wednesday night,” Davis told a reporter from the New York Sun who asked about Giuliani on a press conference call this morning.
The campaign is juggling its lineup to try to reschedule speakers bumped when Monday night’s lineup was scrapped. So some Monday people, such as President Bush, have been moved to tonight, and some scheduled for tonight are being moved to later in the week.
Giuliani, long a friend of McCain’s, had been scheduled as the keynote speaker tonight, but that role will now go to Sen. Joe Lieberman and former Sen. Fred Thompson, who in back-to-back speeches will lay out the case for McCain as a maverick.
