The first groups are off the course at Congressional Country Club during the first round of the U.S. Open, with one player going into the clubhouse on the leaderboard.
Chez Reavie shot a 1-under 70, the best round he has ever put together at this tournament. The 29-year-old American birdied four holes. When he stepped off the course, he was tied for fifth.
“It won’t be in the lead, but it will be close enough for the lead,” he said. “Anytime you’re under par it’s great.”
Reavie has never finished better than tied for 60th in a major championship.
