Senators emerged from the House and Senate conference committee early Friday morning after approving the financial regulation bill. The House is scheduled to vote on the legislation next Tuesday, while the Senate may vote on the bill later on next week.
The financial regulation reform bill is an extraordinarily aggressive approach particularly toward the issue of debit card fees. When I first asked Senator Dick Durbin, Illinois Democrat, about it, citing a Daily Caller article, he mistakenly thought I said, “daily cholera.”
Here is Mr. Durbin’s apology to me on Thursday for the whole “daily cholera” thing and a little more back forth between the two of us on the issue of the debit card fees in the financial regulation reform legislation.
