Comedian Stephen Colbert asked to leave committee hearing

Apparently, Stephen Colbert’s testimony did not go over so well with law makers on the hill. Mr. Colbert, a guest of Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, California Democrat,  was asked to pack it up by Congressman John Conyers, Michigan Democrat, following a joke-laden testimony at House Judiciary subcommittee hearing this morning. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, when asked about the appropriateness of inviting Mr. Colbert to testify, said that she had not yet heard his testimony. However, she did say, “Of course I think it’s appropriate. He’s an American, right? He comes before the committee. He has a point of view. He can bring attention to an important issue like immigration.”AUDIO

He sure did bring attention to a hearing that would have otherwise been ignored by most media today, but is this the kind of attention Americans want on the hill want from our Congress?  Since when does C-Span have to start looking like late night TV? The Democrats surely dropped the ball again this time, and before mid-term elections that is hardly a good thing.
