A disturbed man was taken away in a police van at the senate park today shouting threats at Rep. Michele Bachmann, Minnesota Republican. The Congresswoman was not in Washington today, however.

In a statement to the Water Cooler, U.S. Capitol Police’s Public Information Officer Lieutenant Kimberly Schneider wrote:

“Park Police put out a call for a man w/ a gun at union station.  Then union sq.  Uscp found a subject matching the description in the senate park. We processed the individual for mental evaluation. No weapons were found. No arrest was made.”

Lieutenant Schneider also mentioned that the individual was yelling about social security in the senate park before being taken away by Capitol Police.
