In keeping with owner Ted Leonsis’ plan to return to the traditional red, white and blue color scheme, the Wizards have announced May 10 as the day for the unveiling of new uniforms, a new logo and court design.
Leonsis referred to the new design as a “high class, high quality and iconic” and said he expects the fans to like what they see.
The unveiling will take place at 10am at Verizon Center, and will be open only to media and invited guests, but the event will be streamed live on the team website, washingtonwizards.com.
“The updating of the Wizards brand has been a priority we have focused on with our partners at Adidas and the NBA league office for the better part of the past year and we look forward to the introduction of our new look on May 10,” said Wizards Executive Vice President of Business Operations Greg Bibb in a release issued by the team.
“We are excited about the finished product and we are eager to share the new designs with our fans on a day where our proud past will meet our exciting future, Bibb said.
In his final postseason press conference for the media on Thursday, Wizards GM Ernie Grunfeld was asked why he was not sporting the new uniform.
“If they had made one in my size, I’d be wearing it,” Grunfeld joked.
