Shooting guard Nick Young is returning to the Wizards. According to multiple sources, the restricted free agent will sign the qualifying offer he received from the team, worth $3.7 million.
Young had been in California awaiting other offers and testing the free agent market, and was reportedly seeking a deal in the range of $9 million per season. Without any offers in that range available to him, Young will sign the one year deal will the Wizards, and will become an unrestricted free agent next year.
Having missed all of Wizards training camp, Young is not expected to play in the Wizards second and final preseason game against the Philadelphia 76ers in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Last season, Young averaged 17.4 points per game for the Wizards, and was the team’s leading scorer.
