ATLANTA—Wizards fans will have to wait a little longer to see first round pick Jan Vesely. Vesely did not make the trip to Atlanta for Wednesday night’s game against the Hawks, and is still dealing with a sore right hip.
Maurice Evans is also unlikely to see any action against his former team. Evans did not practice on Tuesday after having his knee drained, and did not play in the Wizards first game against the Nets.
“He left his legs in the boardroom,” Saunders said shortly after Evans was re-signed by the team, quick to add that it was a complement to Evans and his hard work as a Vice President of the NBA Players Association in helping to come to a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
“We still have to get Nick [Young] going,” Evans said on Tuesday. A veteran at age 33, Evans said that at this point in his career, he has nothing to prove.
When Evans is healthy and ready to go, he’ll give the Wizards the same kind of steady veteran leadership that Roger Mason Jr. does. Last season, Evans averages 9.7 points per game for the Wizards.
