On Thursday, Butler guard Shelvin Mack was drafted by the Wizards with the 34th overall pick. Mack sat court side during Sunday’s Mystics game against the Tulsa Shock, right at the end of the bench, and spoke briefly about coming to Washington.

“I was glad to be drafted by the Wizards. I’s a great opportunity to come in and play right away,” Mack said.

Mack is combo guard who is expected to be a good back court running mate with John Wall.

“I just want to come in in the best shape I can and not worry about things I can’t control,” Mack said.

Mack is clearly hoping that the league will not have a protracted lockout next season.

Why take in a Mystics game?

“I love basketball. It was a great chance to see the city, see a game and come and meet the fans.”
