Irene Pollin pleased with Wizards new look

The Wizards revealed their new uniforms today on the Wizards practice court in front of a crowd of fans, season ticket holders and guests. Owner Ted Leonsis has always maintained that his plan in returning to the old red, white and blue color scheme was to honor the past while embracing the future.

In addition to the new uniforms, there will be a re-design of the team’s on court logo and website.

The attention to detail is impressive in the new look - the Wizards “D” is shaped like the Washington Monument, and the prominent new logo replacing that confusing wizards character is a hand reaching up to touch a basketball in the lowercase dc. As Bullets fans will recall, the former logo had two hands reaching up to touch a basketball.

“I want to pay homage to what the Pollin family built, but add a modern twist,” Leonsis said about the new Wizards uniforms. In an official statement released by Mrs. Pollin, it seems that Leonsis got it right.

Official Statement by Irene Pollin on Newly Unveiled Wizards Uniforms

“I am absolutely delighted by the newly unveiled Wizards uniforms. The return to a red, white and blue color scheme is a wonderful way to celebrate the past while looking towards the future.

The revamped logos are a strong, favorable and natural evolution of the Wizards brand, and I applaud Ted Leonsis for bringing this refreshing, yet familiar look back for Wizards fans of all ages to enjoy. My heart is still with you – go Wizards!”
