Wizards reserve guard Roger Mason Jr.’s season has come to an end. Mason is having surgery on his left index finger, and according to reports, will be released by the team.
Mason has an avulsion fracture in his left index finger, and scheduled the surgery on Monday morning in New York.
Mason has been playing with pain for the past month – he sustained the injury on March 15 when the Wizards played the New Orleans Hornets. With the release of Mason, the Wizards will sign another guard for the team’s final six games.
Mason addressed his fans and teammates on Twitter on Monday morning.
“Heading in for surgery on my finger. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. I’ll be back even stronger next year! Be blessed!”
Mason finished his return to the Wizards this year averaging 5.5 points and 1.3 rebounds.
