Two things seemed curious during last night’s blowout win by the Wizards over the Miami Heat, by a whopping 34 points, 104-70.

With the Heat locked in as the number two seed, meaning they will host a first round series, why did the Big Three bother to make the trip to D.C., and why, even with the second tier unit on the floor did the Heat look so out of it from the opening tip?

The mystery was solved today when it was revealed that the Heat had a full on scrimmage yesterday morning, in place of the usual shootaround that teams normally have on game day.

Knowing they would have limited practice time before beginning the playoffs this weekend, coach Erik Spoelstra held an all out scrimmage. By game time, the Heat players had no legs left.

Of course, the Wizards might still have pulled off the win – they defeated the Heat on their home court last Saturday night. But either way, it would have been a better game.

The Heat open the playoffs against the New York Knicks on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
