Job security not a concern to Saunders

CHICAGO — The Wizards got a much needed victory on Tuesday night against the Toronto Raptors, and coach Flip Saunders can breathe a little easier. Although, despite speculation that reached the national media, Saunders said he wasn’t concerned about losing his job.

“I think because of Ted,” Saunders said Tuesday night, addressing the media after the Wizards 93-78 win over the Raptors, referring to Wizards owner Ted Leonsis.

“You know, like Ted even said before the game, don’t listen to anything you hear. We know what we’ve planned and what we’ve done and how we’re going about doing it.

“At times it gonna look bad. Don’t lose sight of where we’re tying to get, and the process that we’re going through.

“Keep on working with these guys, keep on trying to get them in situations where they can have success, and the more we work with the roster off the floor as far as game days, eventually ther’ye going to keep on getting better and better.”

The challenges to the Wizards (1-8) new found confidence will come right away - they play the Eastern Conference leading Chicago Bulls (9-2) tonight, followed by the Division leading Philadelphia 76ers (7-2) on Friday and Saturday in a back-to-back home and home series.
