Wizards pick up second preseason win

Trevor Booker played a few more minutes than he expected in just his second game back from a left hamstring injury, but Booker didn’t give Wizards coach Randy Wittman any choice.

“Trevor [Booker] was pretty good, to say the least,” Wittman said. “He had a lot of energy. Missing some time, he was eager to get out there. I played him a couple minutes more than I wanted, but he was going too good.”

Booker led all scorers with 22 points and seven rebounds in the Wizards 102-94 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.

“My teammates found me early and got me going,” Booker said. “We did a good job of finding each other tonight. We played well.”

Booker has shown a tendency to be injury prone, having missed the final games of the last two seasons with foot injuries, but the Wizards are a different team with Booker in the lineup. He brings energy and hustle and a certain toughness to his position.

“I’m still trying to get my wind back,” Booker said. “ I was out a couple of weeks, but I’m feeling pretty good about it. Still working though, still trying to get that wind back. Hopefully next game I feel better.”

The Wizards certainly hope so. Their next game is against the defending NBA champion Miami Heat on Wednesday.
