Wizards poised for a real training camp this year

A few Wizards players have already made their way back to Washington D.C., and have already started hitting the practice court. Last year’s lockout forced an abbreviated training camp at Verizon Center, but this year, things are back to normal.

The team will open training camp at George Mason University on Oct. 2 and have scheduled two-a-day sessions from Oct. 2 through Oct. 9. There are two preseason games on the schedule: Sun. Oct. 7 on the road against the Charlotte Bobcats, and Thur. Oct. 11 at Verizon Center against the New York Knicks.

The Wizards have 18 players in camp including last year’s rookie’s Chris Singleton, Jan Vesely and Shelvin Mack, who had to learn on the fly in last year’s shortened version of training camp, along with recent signees Brian Cook, Steven Gray, Shavlik Randolph and Earl Barron.

Also new to the Wizards roster are A.J. Price, Martell Webster and the player fans are hoping will be the future at shooting guard, first-round draft pick Bradley Beal.
