By Greg Bennett

Legendary comic book store owner Greg Bennett provides a pair of recommendations for comic book lovers every week. Titles are either currently on specialty store shelves or shipping or in the near future. Fans can also click on the covers to appreciate the fine art.

DC Universe: Decisions, No. 1 from DC Comics

DC Universe: Decisions, No. 1, DC Comics, $2.99

Judd Winick (Titans, Outsiders, Green Arrow) and Bill Willingham (Fables) co-write this political thriller, timed to coincide with the election season. Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow try to protect the candidates of the DCU from an unknown super-villain. One writer’s a liberal, and one’s a conservative—definitely an interesting experiment….

Abyss, Volume 1 from Red 5 Comics

Abyss, Volume 1, trade paperback, Red 5 Comics, $9.95

After bringing us Troops (everyone’s favorite internet video) and Star Wars: Tag & Bink Are Dead, Kevin Rubio takes his talents beyond the Star Wars universe! Sort of a cross between Invincible and Wanted (but funny), as Eric Hoffman finds out that his dead father was the world’s most-hated super-villain, Abyss. Seriously funny stuff.

Greg Bennett is the Owner/Manager of Big Planet Comics, a chain of pop art specialty stores in the DC Metro area with locations in Georgetown, Bethesda, Vienna, & College Park.
