Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys from Viz Media

Naoki Urasawa’s 20th Century Boys: Volume 1, trade paperback, Viz Media ($12.99)

A Japanese classic, finally available in English. A few of you are probably familiar with Naoki Urusawa from his work on Monster (18 volumes, so far, from Viz)—a really great read, but this is his masterpiece! Imagine if someone had grown up reading nothing but good early Stephen King novels and Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing comics, and watching creepy John Carpenter movies; and then they did an amazing comic. This is that comic! You must have this!

Pluto: Urasawa x Tezuka from Viz Media

Pluto: Urasawa x Tezuka: Volume 1, trade paperback, Viz Media ($12.99)

Oh yeah, and in his spare time, Mr.Urusawa also did a fully-authorized updating of Tezuka’s Astro Boy for the 21st Century. Also killer stuff!

Greg Bennett is the Owner/Manager of Big Planet Comics, a chain of pop art specialty stores in the DC Metro area with locations in Georgetown, Bethesda, Vienna, & College Park.
