Mister X: Condemned, No. 1 from Dark Horse Comics

Mister X: Condemned, No. 1, Dark Horse Comics ($2.99)

Dean Motter, graphic-designer-turned-cartoonist, is probably best-known for Terminal City (Vertigo), but now he finally returns to the character that started it all back in the ‘80s—Mister X. Frank Miller described Mister X as “perhaps the first legitimate combination of science fiction and German Expressionism seen in comics.” ‘Nuff said.

American Flagg! Definitive Collection: Volume 1, trade paperback from Image Comics

American Flagg! Definitive Collection: Volume 1, trade paperback, Image Comics ($19.99)

Continuing with our 1980s retro-theme, Howard Chaykin’s American Flagg! is finally available in softcover. If it hadn’t been for some legal wrangling over the rights keeping this book out-of-print for so long, American Flagg! would be right up there with Watchmen and Dark Knight on the best of the ‘80s lists. Awesome!

Greg Bennett is the Owner/Manager of Big Planet Comics, a chain of pop art specialty stores in the DC Metro area with locations in Georgetown, Bethesda, Vienna, & College Park.
