Saga of the Swamp Thing, No. 21: Special Edition from DC Comics

Saga of the Swamp Thing, No. 21: Special Edition, DC Comics ($1.00)

The first in a series of bargain ($1.00!) reprints of classic first issues, designed to appeal to fans of the Watchmen movie.  Even though this is #21, it’s the first part of the classic Alan Moore Swamp Thing story that made him famous.  Check this out, and keep an eye out in future weeks for samples of other DC classics, including Fables, Y: The Last Man, Sandman, Planetary, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen—for only a buck!

Humbug from Fantagraphics

Humbug, hard cover book set, Fantagraphics, ($60.00)

All eleven issues of the legendary satire magazine from 1957-58 collected in a slipcased HC set.  This would be Harvey Kurtzman’s third satire magazine after Mad (now Mad Magazine) and Trump (only 2 issues published by Hugh Hefner—to be reprinted later this Spring).  Also includes work my Mad alums Jack Davis, Will Elder, and Al Jaffee.

Greg Bennett is the Owner/Manager of Big Planet Comics, a chain of pop art specialty stores in the DC Metro area with locations in Georgetown, Bethesda, Vienna, & College Park.
