Beirut streets calm again as troops launch operation
Calm returned to the streets of Lebanon's capital Tuesday, after fighting was touched off by the assassination of a top anti-Syrian intelligence chief.
Lebanese Army soldiers patrol Oct. 22, 2012, in the northern port city of Tripoli, Lebanon, during clashes that erupted between supporters and opponents of the Syrian regime. Lebanese troops launched a major security operation to open all roads and force gunmen off the streets, trying to contain an outburst of violence set off by the assassination of a top intelligence official who was a powerful opponent of Syria.
