National Archives puts Civil War records online

Filmmaker Ken Burns was on hand as the National Archives announced that Civil War archives now will be available online.

Andrew Carnegie (Line 15) is among those whose names are recorded in this volume of Civil War draft registrations, which is housed at the National Archives. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, the National Archives and Ancestry.com announced on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, that Civil War archives such as this will be made available online outside the archives.
