The big brick Remington factory looms over the blue-collar town of Ilion in upstate New York. Residents are defending the weapons manufacturer after New York lawmakers banned the sale of semi-automatic assault-style rifles, including the Bushmaster weapon that was linked to a pair of tragic shootings. “Remington is Ilion. The Navy has sent four warships — USS Ramage, USS Mahan, USS Gravely and USS Barry — armed with ballistic missiles into the eastern Mediterranean Sea amid violence in Syria. Navy ships are capable of a variety of military actions, including launching Tomahawk cruise missiles as they did against Libya in 2011.
