Capitol under construction

Workers are beginning to fill the more than 1,300 cracks in the Capitol dome as the next phase of restoration on the 150-year-old American icon begins. The $60 million repair is expected to be completed and the scaffolding removed in time for the 2017 presidential inauguration.

D.C. mayor, fire chief display new fire trucks and ambulances

D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray and fire officials displayed newly purchased heavy equipment in a parking lot outside Robert F. Kennedy Stadium in the District. The trucks and ambulances are expected to bolster a fire department fleet that has fallen into disrepair in recent years.
