AUBURN, Ind. Kruse International, one of the world's leading collector car auction companies, will offer car enthusiasts and entrepreneurs the chance of a lifetime to purchase one of the greatest names in automotive history, Packard Motor Company, on EBay Motors (www.ebaymotors.com), during its Fall Auburn Auction, scheduled Wednesday through Sept. 5 at the Kruse Auction Park.
The principal behind the Packard Motor Company, Roy Gullickson, will put the Packard Motor Company up for auction through EBay Motors in a five-day sale beginning yesterday. The Packard offer will include U.S. patent and trademarks, the prototype Packard sedan, a full-size styling model, engineering drawings, photo files as well as its tools, dies and molds.
Packard Motor Company, based in Phoenix, currently has plans to design, manufacture and market modern, American-made luxury automobiles, bearing the Packard name. The company has already received more than 80 requests for the Great New Packard. A much-anticipated foray in the automotive industry, the Great New Packard will be the only ultraluxury automobile manufactured in the United States. The Packard line will consist of a sedan, coupe and convertible.
"We are making Packard Motor Company available on EBay Motors with Kruse International because we are essentially looking for a buyer. If the successful bidder plans to produce and sell future Packards, we would ultimately like to remain involved in the company," said Mr. Gullickson, president of Packard Motor Car Company.
"Although people know we are up for sale we are continuing to receive orders. We just had a call yesterday from a man who said 'I have to have one of those.' This is an incredible opportunity for a business entrepreneur as well as anyone who has dreamed of owning such a recognizable automotive name," said Kruse International co-founder Dean Kruse. "We are pleased that we and EBayMotors, have helped to put this historic company on the auction block."
Since 1971, Kruse International's Fall Auburn Auction has established records, attracted a who's who of celebrities and developed a world-famous reputation and sold more collector cars than any other auction in the world. Mr. Kruse has personally invited every celebrity that has ever attended a Kruse International Fall Auburn Auction to attend the 30th anniversary festivities.
