Greatest accomplishment during the past 12 months: During 2002, my wife, Bernadette, was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer. Bernadette was also my real estate associate. That year, I accompanied her to more than 300 medical appointments for chemotherapy and radiation. During 2003, we had more than 200 appointments. I was concerned that we would suffer financially because for 300 of 365 days I was occupied at the hospital or the doctor’s office. However, God was watching out for us, and we had the three highest-production years of my 18 years in real estate. Bernadette has now been one year in remission and is almost back to her original health.

What is your area of specialty? Annandale, Falls Church and Springfield

Most memorable house: During Bernadette’s treatment, I found it difficult to meet my clients on time, so I began to buy and renovate homes in the evenings, which took the pressure off my trying to meet clients on time. God continued to bless us. As Bernadette improved, I had learned many ways to renovate homes and more efficient ways to list and sell homes. I then decided to build my first speculative home. During January 2004, I finished my first new home. This was a 6,000-square-foot home with a three-car garage along the Potomac River in Woodbridge at $1.2 million. Then we built a second home at about the same value.
