Maintenance-free living has an appeal for buyers at every age, but “active adult” households, those with family members 55 or older, are particularly tempted by the thought of trading yardwork and home maintenance projects for time with friends and family.

At the Signature Club at Greenview, a new active adult community under development by Ryan Homes in historic New Market, Md., maintenance-free amenities include trash and snow removal, lawn mowing and leaf raking.

With the extra time carved out by limiting yard work, residents at the Signature Club at Greenview can spend time at the swimming pool, fitness center, tennis courts, community center and clubhouse, where the community will come together for activities and socializing.

New Market’s antique shops, specialty stores and restaurants are minutes away, and Frederick is nearby.

For residents who are still working part time or full time, Interstate 70 provides commuter routes to offices in Montgomery, Frederick and Howard counties. Commuter train service also connects Frederick to Washington’s Union Station.

A variety of homes is available at the Signature Club at Greenview, including single-family homes and villa-style models. All three models have a first-floor master suite and first-floor laundry room for convenience, plus a one- or two-car garage.

All the homes include professional landscaping, 6-inch beaded siding and low-maintenance exteriors. Inside, each kitchen has a breakfast area and pantry, cultured white marble vanity tops in the baths, and gas heat.

Optional additions to the homes include loft levels, finished lower levels, sunroom additions, morning rooms, screened porches and fireplaces.

The Stonehurst villa model, with 2,183 square feet, is base-priced from the $380,000s. This home has a living room with a sloped ceiling, a dining room open to the living room, a kitchen with a breakfast area, and a first-floor master suite with walk-in closet and a private bath with a large shower with a seat and a double-bowl vanity.

The laundry room opens onto the one-car garage. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, each with a walk-in closet, and finished storage space and a second full bath. This model can be expanded with a finished lower level, a study, a morning room and a screened porch.

The ranch-style Brighton model, with 2,327 square feet, is base-priced from the $430,000s. The Brighton features a front porch leading into the foyer, which has a direct view into the two-story great room at the back of the house. The great room opens onto the dining area and kitchen and can be accessorized with a fireplace.

The main level also includes a study with French doors and a laundry room linked to the two-car garage. The main-level master bedroom has a tray ceiling, a walk-in closet and a private bath with a large shower with a seat and a double-bowl vanity. A second bedroom and second full bath are on the opposite side of the foyer.

This home also has a second level with a loft, third full bath and third bedroom. A finished lower level is optional.

The Cardiff single-family-home model, with 2,547 square feet, is base-priced from the $450,000s. This home has a tray ceiling in the foyer and a sloped ceiling above the formal living room, which is across the hall from the formal dining room.

The kitchen and breakfast area are adjacent to the great room, which has a sloped ceiling and stairs to the lower level. The main-level master suite has a tray ceiling, a walk-in closet and a private bath with a large shower with a seat and a double-bowl vanity. This level also has a second full bath, a second bedroom and a laundry room lined to the two-car garage.

The lower level can be finished, and an upper level can be added with a loft and third bedroom.
