Hoyas report
Last night at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.:
KEY NUMBER
43-3 Record for Syracuse at the Carrier Dome since the start of the 2002-03 season. The Orange’s last loss at home came vs. Notre Dame on Feb.24 of last season (84-72).
PLAYER OF THE GAME
The award goes to 7-foot-2 freshman Roy Hibbert, who earned the first double-double (12 points, 14 rebounds) of his Big East career in the league’s most hostile environment. If Hibbert continues to progress, the Hoyas could be formidable come March.
SEEN AND HEARD
John Thompson’s offensive system has taken root to the extent Georgetown’s players have begun to police themselves. When junior Ashanti Cook chose an acrobatic, improvisational shot in overtime over a pass to a wide open Jon Wallace on the wing, teammate Darrel Owens chastened him immediately, giving Cook an earful before Thompson took his turn chastising Cook at the next timeout. The Hoyas have taken fewer poor shots this season than they took in a typical game last year.
