SEEN AND HEARD
Georgetown freshman Jeremiah Rivers, who suffered a ghastly looking ankle injury late in Saturday's loss to Duke, did not dress. On a positive front, however, Rivers' injury is a severe sprain and not a fracture. That's good news for a thin Georgetown backcourt. Rivers, the team's best perimeter defender, was sporting a boot and should be back in uniform in time for Georgetown's Big East opener Jan. 6 vs. Notre Dame.
PLAYS OF THE GAME
Two of Georgetown's prettier plays of the season came on back-to-back possessions against the Dukes. On the first, sophomore swingman Marc Egerson turned an ill-advised fullcourt pass from point man Jon Wallace into a beautiful assist when he went high into the air with a James Madison defender to retrieve the ball and executed a beautiful tip pass to Jeff Green for an easy slam.
On the next possession, Wallace split two defenders near midcourt and tossed up a perfect alley-oop to freshman jumping jack Vernon Macklin to put the Hoyas up 61-36 with 12:36 left.
BY THE NUMBERS
30.6 Shooting percentage from 3-point range for Georgetown entering the game, last in the Big East. The Hoyas were 16-for-33 (.485) against James Madison.
