Pennsylvania Avenue has one of the most famous addresses in America, but a new Pennsylvania Avenue address may soon be just as sought-after.

At 2501 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Intrepid Residential, a subsidiary of Intrepid Real Estate of Washington, is building 16 sophisticated condominium homes, each with a unique floor plan.

Depending on the floor plan, these lavish homes will include such features as a private elevator lobby, a circular foyer, an outdoor terrace with a separate enclosed indoor terrace room, a media room or a formal dining room. The builders are saving the 19th-century facade of the Luzon, an apartment building on the site listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The brick facade will be incorporated with the new elements of the building, which will extend west along Pennsylvania Avenue beyond the original building.

Inside, residents and guests enter an elegant wood-paneled lobby. The building includes two reserved underground parking spaces for each residence, a 24-hour lobby attendant and wiring for a personal security system for each home.

While the opulent interior features and generously proportioned homes are certain to attract well-heeled buyers, residents will also be drawn by the building’s location within walking distance of Georgetown, Dupont Circle, the Kennedy Center, George Washington University and the Foggy Bottom Metro station. A specialty grocery store is across the street from the building.

Standard features will far exceed what is “standard,” even in many expensive homes, including marble counters in the kitchen, marble master baths, high-quality appliances and a choice of wide-plank exotic hardwood flooring in teak, Brazilian cherry or oak.

The homes have 10-foot ceilings, walls of windows, recessed lighting, multizone heating and air conditioning and high-speed Internet access, along with prewiring for multiple phone lines, satellite and cable television.

For those who appreciate the luxury of a quiet home, sound dampening features have been placed in every home.

Each kitchen will include marble counters, custom Italian cabinets designed specifically for that residence, with upscale appliances and fixtures, large pantries and plenty of work space.

The master bath in each home includes marble floors, marble counters, floor-to-ceiling frameless glass shower enclosures, and a 6-foot whirlpool tub. All the bath fixtures are from Waterworks, including a shower with three separate body sprays.

With base prices from $1,800,000, these condominium homes have from 2,600 to more than 4,000 finished square feet. Condominium fees have yet to be determined.

The largest of the 16 residences, the penthouse 2B model, has 4,339 square feet on two levels, plus an additional 318 square feet of terrace space. This home has a private entrance off the elevator leading into a foyer lined with closets and windows.

The formal living room includes a fireplace, multiple windows on two sides and a set of French doors opening onto a terrace. This level also includes a formal dining room, a library, a powder room and a center-island kitchen with an adjacent family room. The family room has French doors opening onto a second terrace.

A curving staircase has been placed against an exterior wall with a two-story window. The second level includes a terrace across the entire length of the home, accessible through French doors from the master bedroom and the third bedroom.

The master suite includes a deep walk-in closet, two standard closets and a luxury bath. This level also includes a laundry room and two more bedrooms, each with a walk-in closet and a private full bath.

The Unit A model on the second floor, with 2,732 square feet, includes a circular foyer that opens into a spacious combined living and dining room with a fireplace and five windows, including a box bay alcove.

Adjacent to the living and dining room are a large family room with two box bay alcoves and multiple windows. The family room is open to the kitchen.

The master suite, on the opposite of the home, has multiple windows and closets and a luxury bath. Nearby are a laundry room, a powder room and a second bedroom with a walk-in closet and a private full bath.
