Mrs. Merkel also addresses the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on trans-Atlantic relations. She also delivers to the Library of Congress the 1507 German map that first used the term “America.”
Erika Mann, a member of the European Parliament, who joins members of Congress to discuss trans-Atlantic trade in a noon press conference at the National Press Club.
President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen, who meets with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. He has lunch on Wednesday at the White House with President Bush.
Denis MacShane, a member of the British Parliament, who participates in a panel discussion about global anti-Semitism in a forum sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League.

President Alvaro Uribe of Colombia, who meets with President Bush. Mr. Uribe also joins Mercedes Araoz, Peru’s minister of foreign trade and tourism; Agustin Carstens, Mexico’s secretary of finance and public credit; David Emerson, Canada’s minister of international trade; and Henrique de Campos Meirelles, governor of the Central Bank of Brazil, in addressing a conference sponsored by the Council of the Americas.
Josef Ackermann, chief executive officer of Deutsche Bank, who addresses Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
