Selection Sunday is drawing closer, and this week’s bracket reflects a few possible trends.

First, the CAA could again be in line for two NCAA berths. Old Dominion’s early victory at Georgetown looks even better by the day, and Virginia Commonwealth is holding on to first in the league.

Next, nine teams from the ACC is a possibility. There are nine in this bracket, though Florida State might be fading after losing guard Toney Douglas to injury.

Also, the scrum of SEC teams hovering just on the bubble has collectively moved down. There are only four SEC teams in the field — none from the mediocre SEC West — but four of the first eight teams out are from that conference. The most interesting of the bunch might be Ole Miss, which has avoided any foolish losses in coach Andy Kennedy’s first season and has a reputable RPI in the 50s.
