An article on Thursday’s Africa briefing page of The Washington Times incorrectly reported that the Ivory Coast government has spent a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to assess the use of child labor in six villages. No such grant was issued. The article also said Sen. Tom Harkin, Iowa Democrat, was seeking $4.3 million for a private organization to monitor a protocol designed to limit child labor in Ivory Coast. That money was awarded in September 2006.
