BY THE NUMBERS
24 Consecutive free throws made by Georgetown guard Jonathan Wallace before a miss in the first half. Wallace was perfect for the season (15-for-15) until the streak, which dated back to a Feb. 19 loss to Villanova last year, was snapped.
PLAY OF THE GAME
The finest sequence of Jeff Green’s sublime first half gave the Hoyas a 29-9 lead. Green swatted Russell Carter’s 3-point attempt, and Jessie Sapp chased down the rebound. Sapp then ran the break halfway down the floor before hoisting an alley-oop from the 3-point line to Green, who charged down the baseline and slammed it in.
HILLTOP AND THE HILL
An interesting distraction occurred during the final television timeout. The Hoyas’ mascot awarded a “We Are Georgetown” shirt to new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was seated about 10 rows back at halfcourt. Pelosi’s husband, Paul, and three of her children graduated from Georgetown, and she was granted an honorary degree from the school in 2002.
