Nationals report

SEEN AND HEARD AT RFK STADIUM

For the second straight night, Alfonso Soriano received a mixed reaction from the crowd when he stepped to the plate. What exactly would prompt fans to boo the former Nationals slugger and current Cubs leadoff man?

He was great on and off the field last season, gave the District everything he possibly had and produced one of the greatest offensive seasons in franchise history.

Yes, he bolted for more money, but who wouldn’t leave for $136 million? Nationals fans are obviously frustrated over losing the best player they have had in town in three years, but don’t take that out on Soriano.

BY THE NUMBERS

.185 Career batting average for Austin Kearns vs. Carlos Zambrano, one reason the Nationals right fielder was not in last night’s lineup.

TODAY’S GAME

Nationals LHP Matt Chico (3-5, 4.74) vs. Cubs LHP Rich Hill (5-5, 3.49), 12:05 p.m., MASN, AM-1500, FM-107.7.
